Walk the full length of the Norfolk Coast Path on this complete self-guided journey from Hunstanton to Hopton-on-Sea. Following the changing coastline of north and east Norfolk, the route passes through beaches, dunes, saltmarshes, nature reserves, fishing villages, and traditional seaside towns before finishing on the county's eastern shoreline.

Beginning on the cliffs at Old Hunstanton, the journey follows the Norfolk Coast National Landscape through Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Deepdale, Wells-next-the-Sea, Cley-next-the-Sea, Sheringham, Mundesley, Happisburgh, Winterton-on-Sea, and Great Yarmouth before reaching the official end of the trail at Hopton-on-Sea.

Arrival Day — Arrive in Hunstanton

Arrive in Hunstanton and settle into your accommodation before the journey begins. Spend the evening exploring the seafront, the famous striped cliffs, or nearby Old Hunstanton before preparing for the first day on the trail.

Day 1 — Old Hunstanton to Brancaster

Walking Distance: 7 miles / 11 km

Begin the Norfolk Coast Path at Old Hunstanton before following the coast through Holme Dunes National Nature Reserve and the wide coastal landscapes bordering The Wash. Pass Holme-next-the-Sea, where the Peddars Way joins the Norfolk Coast Path, before continuing to Brancaster.

Day 2 — Brancaster to Wells-next-the-Sea

Walking Distance: 12 miles / 19 km

Continue east through expansive saltmarshes, Holkham National Nature Reserve and Holkham Beach before arriving in the harbour town of Wells-next-the-Sea.

Day 3 — Wells-next-the-Sea to Cley-next-the-Sea

Walking Distance: 12 miles / 19 km

Follow the coast through Stiffkey, Morston and Blakeney before reaching Cley-next-the-Sea, a village renowned for its windmill, marshes and internationally important birdlife.

Day 4 — Cley-next-the-Sea to Sheringham

Walking Distance: 8 miles / 13 km

Walk beneath the low cliffs through Weybourne before reaching Sheringham, where the landscape changes from saltmarsh to a traditional seaside setting.

Day 5 — Sheringham to Mundesley

Walking Distance: 12 miles / 19 km

Continue through Cromer before following the cliff-top coastline towards Mundesley, enjoying uninterrupted sea views for much of the day.

Day 6 — Mundesley to Happisburgh

Walking Distance: 7 miles / 11 km

A shorter day follows Norfolk's quieter eastern coastline to Happisburgh, home to one of Britain's oldest working lighthouses and a dramatic stretch of rapidly changing coastline.

Day 7 — Happisburgh to Winterton-on-Sea

Walking Distance: 12.5 miles / 20 km

Continue south through Sea Palling and along wide sandy beaches before reaching the dunes and protected landscapes surrounding Winterton-on-Sea.

Day 8 — Winterton-on-Sea to Hopton-on-Sea

Walking Distance: 13.5 miles / 22 km

Complete the final stage through Great Yarmouth before following the coastline to Hopton-on-Sea, the official end of the Norfolk Coast Path. Celebrate completing the trail before transferring back to Great Yarmouth for your final evening.
