We are particularly interested in places that give independent travellers a good base for walking, exploring the surrounding landscape or spending more time in a destination.
Places to stay
Hotels, inns, pubs, guesthouses and other distinctive accommodation can be considered for inclusion in our Places to Stay collection.
Where relevant, a stay can also appear alongside nearby trails, landscapes, destinations, journeys, walking breaks and practical guides.
Places and experiences
We are also interested in places and experiences that help people understand or explore an area.
That might include historic places, gardens, nature and wildlife, local attractions or other experiences with a strong connection to the destinations and landscapes we cover.
How features work
Not every submission will be suitable for Self Guided Travel. We consider whether it fits the places we publish, whether it is useful to our readers and how naturally it connects with the wider platform.
