Morston, Norfolk – Quay and Saltmarsh Stop on the Norfolk Coast Path
Tidal Channels, Open Marsh, and Big Coastal Horizons
Morston is a small coastal settlement on the north Norfolk coast along the Norfolk Coast Path, set between Blakeney and Stiffkey within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape. Walking into the village, the route follows raised sea walls and saltmarsh edges, where wide views open across tidal creeks and mudflats toward Blakeney Point Nature Reserve and the North Sea.
The centre of Morston is focused on the quay and harbour, where boats sit on the mud at low tide and narrow lanes lead inland through scattered houses and farm buildings. The coast path runs directly past the quay before continuing along the sea wall, keeping walking level and close to the marsh throughout.
Morston has limited but useful services for walkers. There is a seasonal café near the quay and parking nearby, with additional shops, pubs, and accommodation available in Blakeney and Stiffkey within easy walking distance. This makes Morston a convenient short stop rather than a full service base.
Beyond Morston, the Norfolk Coast Path continues west toward Blakeney along the harbour edge or east across open marshland toward Stiffkey and Wells-next-the-Sea. The terrain remains flat and exposed, with firm tracks along embankments and uninterrupted coastal views.
