Sheringham, Norfolk – Seaside Town on the Norfolk Coast Path
Promenade Paths, Low Cliffs, and Open Coastal Views
Sheringham is a seaside town on the north Norfolk coast along the Norfolk Coast Path, set within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape between Weybourne and Cromer. Here the route follows a mix of promenade, beach, and low clifftop paths, where the coastline shifts from quieter shingle and marsh to a more built-up seafront setting.
The town is arranged along the shoreline around its promenade and town centre, with streets rising gently inland toward woodland and higher ground. Footpaths connect the seafront with Beeston Bump and Sheringham Park, while the coast path runs directly through the town before continuing east and west along the cliffs.
Sheringham offers useful services for walkers. There are shops, cafés, pubs, places to eat and drink, and accommodation across the town, making it a practical place to stop, resupply, or stay overnight on this section of the route.
Rail connections are available from Sheringham station, with services operated by Greater Anglia linking the town to Norwich and the wider rail network, providing access to and from the route without the need for a car.
Beyond Sheringham, the Norfolk Coast Path continues west toward Weybourne along low cliffs and open coastal slopes or east toward Cromer along the promenade and clifftop paths. The terrain becomes gently undulating, with long views across the coast and the North Sea.
