Wetlands, saltmarsh and coastal wildlife
Titchwell Marsh Nature Reserve lies on the north Norfolk coast within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape. Located between Thornham and Brancaster, the reserve combines freshwater lagoons, reedbeds, grazing marsh, saltmarsh, dunes and sandy shoreline within a landscape shaped by wildlife, tides and the changing coast.
The mixture of wetland and coastal habitats supports migratory birds, waders, wildfowl and other wildlife throughout the year. Paths and viewpoints provide ways to explore the reserve as the landscape changes from freshwater habitats inland towards saltmarsh, dunes and the open coast.
The Norfolk Coast Path passes through this part of the coast, connecting Titchwell with Thornham and Holme to the west and Brancaster and the wider north Norfolk coast to the east. This makes the reserve easy to incorporate into a longer coastal walk as well as explore in its own right.
Titchwell Marsh forms part of the wider network of protected habitats along the Norfolk Coast, where beaches, dunes, saltmarshes, grazing marsh and nature reserves extend along much of the coastline. Open skies, changing tides and views across marsh and shoreline give this part of north Norfolk its distinctive coastal character.
