Woodland, parkland and coastal views
Sheringham Park lies within the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, close to Sheringham on the north Norfolk coast. The historic park combines landscaped grounds, mature woodland and rolling countryside, with elevated viewpoints opening across the surrounding landscape towards the sea.
The park is particularly associated with landscape designer Humphry Repton, who developed plans for the estate in the early 19th century. Woodland and parkland were arranged around the natural contours of the landscape, creating a series of views across the estate and towards the Norfolk coast.
A network of paths allows the park to be explored on foot, passing through woodland, open parkland and viewpoints across the surrounding countryside. Its elevated position provides a contrast to the beaches, cliffs and low-lying coastal landscapes encountered elsewhere along the Norfolk Coast.
Nearby, the Norfolk Coast Path follows the coastline through Sheringham as part of its route east towards Cromer. Sheringham Park lies inland from the trail, but provides an opportunity to explore the wooded and historic landscapes behind the coast while staying in Sheringham or spending longer in this part of north Norfolk.
