Sand, shingle and the Sheringham coastline

Sheringham Beach lies beside the traditional seaside town of Sheringham on the Norfolk Coast, where a mixture of sand and shingle stretches along the shoreline beneath the town's promenade and sea defences. At lower tides, areas of sand and rock become exposed, creating a varied coastal landscape overlooking the North Sea.

The beach forms part of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape, with the coastline extending west towards Weybourne Beach and east towards Cromer. Sheringham's seafront retains much of its traditional character, with fishing boats, colourful beach huts and historic buildings reflecting the town's long association with the sea.

The Norfolk Coast Path passes through Sheringham, providing walking routes in both directions along the coast. To the west, the route leads towards Weybourne, passing coastal slopes and open countryside, while to the east it continues towards Cromer, with views across the cliffs and shoreline.

Inland from the town, Sheringham Park offers a contrasting landscape of woodland, historic parkland and elevated coastal viewpoints. Visitors can combine time on the beach with walks through the park or explore the surrounding countryside and nearby villages.

Sheringham Beach is popular for seaside walks, photography and exploring the shore at low tide. The character of the beach changes with the tides, and visitors should take care around exposed rocks, sea defences and the water, particularly during rough conditions.

For visitors exploring Sheringham Beach and the surrounding Norfolk Coast National Landscape, The Two Lifeboats offers seafront accommodation in Sheringham, overlooking the beach and close to the Norfolk Coast Path. From here, visitors can explore the promenade, nearby coastal walks and Sheringham Park, with Weybourne and Cromer also within easy reach.
