Woodland walks at Harling Woods
Thetford Forest Park at Harling Woods lies within the wider Thetford Forest landscape, close to the Norfolk-Suffolk border. Forest tracks and paths run through the woodland, providing opportunities for walking and exploring this quieter part of the Brecks.
Harling Woods forms part of the extensive forest landscape surrounding Thetford, where woodland, heathland and open countryside meet. The network of tracks through the area makes it possible to explore the forest independently on foot and connect with longer routes through the surrounding countryside.
The Peddars Way passes through Harling Woods near the beginning of its journey north from Knettishall Heath. Here, the trail follows forest tracks beneath the trees before leaving the woodland and continuing into the rural landscape of Norfolk.
For walkers following the Peddars Way, Harling Woods provides one of the first substantial woodland sections of the route. For a shorter visit, the forest tracks offer an opportunity to explore this part of Thetford Forest without following the long-distance trail.
