Stay at a restored historic hotel on the Norfolk coast
The Maltings is a restored historic hotel in Weybourne, on the Norfolk Coast, combining traditional flint buildings with contemporary accommodation, dining and relaxed spaces for guests. Once used for malting barley, the property has been carefully renovated, retaining much of its original character while creating a distinctive place to stay close to the sea and surrounding countryside.
The hotel has 28 individually designed bedrooms across the Main House, former stables and cottages, with a choice of room sizes and styles. At its heart is The Grain Store, a striking restaurant within a converted flint barn, serving seasonal British food inspired by Norfolk produce. Guests can also enjoy Bolding's Bar, the library, games room, outdoor terraces and wellness treatments at The Cottage, with dog-friendly accommodation available.
From the hotel, Weybourne Beach is within walking distance, offering a broad shingle shoreline and views across the North Sea. The Norfolk Coast Path passes through the surrounding coastal landscape, connecting Salthouse to the west with Sheringham to the east. Walkers can explore open countryside, coastal grassland and the nearby heathland, with opportunities for both shorter local walks and longer journeys along the coast.
Nearby Weybourne Station, part of the heritage North Norfolk Railway, offers steam train journeys through the countryside towards Sheringham and Holt. Sheringham Park provides woodland walks and coastal viewpoints, while Holt is known for its independent shops, galleries and cafés. Together, these places make The Maltings an appealing base for exploring the Norfolk Coast National Landscape.
