Walk the Suffolk Coast Path
The Suffolk Coast Path is a long-distance trail running for approximately 60 miles / 96 km from Felixstowe to Lowestoft, following the Suffolk Coast through estuaries, heathland, marshes, shingle beaches and nature reserves.
Beginning in Felixstowe, the route heads north towards the Deben estuary before continuing through the coastal landscapes of the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape. Along the way, the trail connects places including Orford, Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Walberswick and Southwold.
Much of the route follows sea walls, estuary paths, heathland tracks, beaches and quiet lanes. The terrain is generally gentle, although shingle, sand and longer walking days can make some sections more demanding than the relatively flat landscape suggests.
The changing estuaries are an important part of walking the Suffolk Coast Path. The route crosses a landscape shaped by rivers and the sea, with seasonal ferry crossings, tidal waterways, marshes and coastal nature reserves influencing both the character of the walk and how individual sections are planned.
North of Southwold, the route continues through the coastal landscapes around Covehithe, Benacre, Kessingland and Pakefield before reaching Lowestoft, Britain's most easterly town.
