Staffordshire

Moorlands, River Valleys, Woodland Landscapes, and Historic Routes

From the uplands of the Staffordshire Moorlands to the river valleys, woodlands, and rolling countryside of the south, Staffordshire contains a network of routes, landscapes, and places shaped by geology, industry, farming, and centuries of movement through the heart of England. Trails such as the Staffordshire Way and sections of the Two Saints Way reveal many of these environments, while landscapes including the Peak District National Park, Cannock Chase National Landscape, and the Staffordshire Moorlands showcase some of the county's most distinctive natural settings.

Routes pass through moorland, woodland, river valleys, farmland, historic market towns, and former industrial landscapes, linking protected landscapes, heritage sites, and some of the Midlands' most recognisable places. Together, these routes and landscapes reveal the character of Staffordshire while providing opportunities to explore at a slower pace through self-guided travel and independent exploration.
