The Stour Valley Path passes through Dedham as it follows the river valley between the villages and landscapes of the Essex-Suffolk border. Sections of the route can form part of a local walking break, with the trail continuing east towards Flatford and Cattawade and west towards Stratford St Mary and Nayland.
St Edmund Way also passes through Dedham, adding another long-distance route to the network of local paths around the village.
