Gîte Chez Philippe is a long-established gîte d’étape located in the high-altitude village of Saint-Dalmas-le-Selvage, directly on the GR5 in the Haute Tinée. Sitting at around 1,700 metres, it provides an important overnight stop for walkers and cyclists tackling sustained Alpine stages through the southern French Alps.

The gîte supports multi-day walking holidays and long-distance journeys through Mercantour, offering practical accommodation rather than destination luxury. Rooms are simple and functional, suited to individuals, groups, and route-based travellers moving between high passes and remote valleys.

With year-round access and a strong tradition of welcoming independent travellers, Gîte Chez Philippe plays a key role in enabling self-guided journeys across one of the GR5’s most demanding southern sections.
