Stay in St Bees
The Manor Inn is a village inn with rooms on Main Street in St Bees, close to the railway station and within walking distance of the coast. Its position provides a base for exploring the village, beach and surrounding Cumbrian coastline on foot, as well as setting out into the countryside beyond St Bees.
Local walking leads towards St Bees Head, where red sandstone cliffs rise above the Irish Sea and coastal paths continue north towards Whitehaven. Within the village, St Bees Priory and the surrounding streets add further places to explore, while the beach provides access to one of the most distinctive stretches of the western Cumbrian coast.
The Coast to Coast Path begins beside the Irish Sea at St Bees before following the cliffs around St Bees Head and turning inland towards Ennerdale and the Lake District. The Manor Inn is well placed for walkers preparing to begin the National Trail, while sections of the coast and surrounding paths can also form part of a shorter stay based in St Bees.
Further inland, the western landscapes of Cumbria provide opportunities to explore Ennerdale and the quieter western side of the Lake District. Together, the coast, village and nearby fells make St Bees a useful base for walking beyond the Coast to Coast Path itself.
