Stay at a historic country inn near the Norfolk coast

The Ingham Swan is a historic 14th-century coaching inn in Ingham, a small Norfolk village between The Broads National Park and the coast at Sea Palling. Once associated with the neighbouring Ingham Priory, the Grade II listed building retains its traditional character, with exposed beams, flint walls and a thatched roof. Today, it combines boutique accommodation with an acclaimed restaurant, offering a distinctive countryside setting for a short break or a longer stay exploring eastern Norfolk.

The inn offers seven individually designed en-suite bedrooms, with four rooms in the converted coach house beside the restaurant and three superior king rooms in a nearby character cottage. The accommodation combines traditional features with contemporary furnishings and comfortable bathrooms. Guests can choose from bed and breakfast, room-only options when available, or stay-and-dine packages. The restaurant, led by Chef Patron Daniel Smith and Head Chef Jordan Caswell, holds three AA Rosettes and is recommended by the Michelin Guide, with menus celebrating seasonal Norfolk produce.

The surrounding countryside offers quiet lanes, rural landscapes and opportunities for walking around Ingham and neighbouring villages. A short drive east brings visitors to Sea Palling Beach, known for its wide sandy shoreline and sheltered bays, while the Norfolk Coast Path offers longer walks towards Waxham and Horsey. The nearby coast is particularly rewarding for visitors interested in beaches, dunes and wildlife.

Inland, Hickling Broad provides a contrasting landscape of reedbeds, waterways and nature reserves within The Broads National Park. Visitors can explore the surrounding wetlands, enjoy birdwatching or discover the villages and waterways of the Norfolk Broads. With its historic setting, comfortable guest rooms and destination dining, The Ingham Swan makes an appealing base for combining countryside walks, coastal exploration and memorable food.
