Refuge de Longon, Roure – Mountain Hut on the GR5, French Alps

Positioned above Roure along the GR5 within Mercantour National Park in the French Alps, it provides a well-placed stop for walkers moving through this high mountain section of the route, with direct access to alpine terrain, open ridgelines, and remote valley landscapes.

The GR5 passes by the refuge as it traverses the Mercantour, linking upland pastures, rocky slopes, and high-altitude paths. From here, the route continues north toward St-Étienne-de-Tinée and south toward the Vésubie Valley, following a demanding but rewarding line through one of the most dramatic sections of the southern Alps.
