Built through research and time on the ground
Self Guided Travel combines research with photography, writing and time spent exploring the places we publish.
We document long-distance trails, protected landscapes, historic places, nature reserves, towns and villages, as well as the practical details that help turn an idea into a journey.
That might mean following a trail from beginning to end, spending a few days walking from one place, finding somewhere to stay near a landscape you want to explore, or simply discovering somewhere you did not know about before.

Our guides and suggested journeys provide information and ideas rather than prescribing a single way to travel. You can use as much or as little of the platform as you need and build a trip around your own interests, time and pace.
